Training Healthcare Professionals in Leading-edge Heart Treatments
National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) serves as the national centre for cardiovascular medicine in Singapore. Its education programmes aim to deliver high quality postgraduate training for doctors, nurses and paramedical professionals.

Asia PCR-Singapore Live Intervention in Vascular Endotherapy (SingLIVE)
SingLIVE is a platform for medical professionals and researchers to gather and discuss on up and coming technology and techniques in interventional cardiology in Asia Pacific. As SingLIVE develops, this annual event has also become a launching pad for new technology and techniques for the region. In 2010, SingLIVE partnered with EuroPCR, the leading course in interventional cardiology in Europe, to form AsiaPCR-SingLIVE.
Advanced specialty training
The Cardiology Advanced Specialty Training offers in-depth expertise to allow the trainees to acquire advanced knowledge and competence in cardiology, preparing them for subspecialisation in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, echocardiography, nuclear or clinical cardiology.
The Cardiothoracic Advanced Specialty Training provides the trainee with clinical exposure to acquire advanced knowledge and competence in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
These sessions provide an update on the latest cardiac management techniques in preparation for various heart-related medical situations and heart care programmes to enhance cardiac care for patients. Courses include Basic and Advanced ECG course, SingVALVE: a symposium on heart valve therapies, and Cardiology Update @ Singapore.
Fellowship programmes
Various one year subspecialty hands-on programmes are available. They include different subspecialties of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac anaesthesia.
Diploma courses for Cardiac Medical Technologists
NHCS, in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, imparts students with basic theoretical concepts in the practice of cardiac technology, preparing them for real-life clinical environments.

Through classroom sessions and attachment programmes at NHCS, nursing professionals gain proficiency in all aspects of cardiac and vascular care.
About National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS)
As the national referral centre for cardiovascular diseases in Singapore, NHCS treats patients with lung, heart and chest problems. Its medical staff represents the largest cardiovascular specialty group, and is involved in the treatment of highly complex cases.
NHCS provides comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative cardiac services to local and overseas patients. It is also the first heart centre outside of the United States and in Asia to receive the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. The accreditation was awarded in 2005 and reaccredited in 2008, reaffirming its status as a provider of safe and quality patient care.
