Focuses on various aspects of neuroscience
Neurology: Healthcare professionals acquire clinical neurology knowledge through a comprehensive programme that comprises lectures, weekly clinical tutorials and mortality rounds.
Neurosurgery: Designed to train the country’s neurosurgeons, the NNI Neurosurgical Training Programme is a formal academic residency programme that is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Joint Royal Colleges of Surgeons of the UK for the Intercollegiate Examinations.
Neuroscience nursing: A spectrum of training programmes is available to impart nurses with neuroscience nursing skills and to equip them to care for patients with neurological disorders.
Comprises a range of CME programmes
For primary care physicians: Through on-going series of seminars and lectures that emphasise approaches to neurological diseases, NNI prepares this group of doctors to deal with illnesses that affect the brain, spine, nerve and muscle.
For medical officers and trainees: NNI organises weekly Neurology Grand Rounds and lectures for medial officers to broaden knowledge about complex cases and management problems. Advanced trainees in neurology can also participate in journal club discussions.
About National Neuroscience Institute (NNI)
Since its official opening in June 1999, NNI has played an essential role as Singapore’s national specialist centre for the management of patients with diseases related to the nervous system. Apart from advanced treatments in neurology, the institute also provides clinical neuroscience training and invests in basic and clinical neuroscience research.
NNI is the only institute in Singapore that operates a dedicated Neuroradiology Department.
