Ever looked at a microscopic slide and wondered what all the blue and red bits are? Which is a gland and which is a lymphocyte? Where is the tumour and which bit is normal? What is a squamous cell carcinoma and what is an adenocarcinoma?
This course in basic histology and histopathology is designed for researcher with no background in histology. Participants will be introduced to the basics of histology such as cellular and tissue structures, as well as the nomenclature used to describe common tumours of the gastrointestinal tract, skin and the lung.

About Course Director: The course is directed by the Director of the SingHealth Tissue Repository. A pathologist by training, Dr Tan Soo Yong obtained his PhD qualification in Oxford University and has research interests in the fields of immunodiagnostics and haematolymphoid pathology. He has conducted similar workshops in Tan Tock Seng Hospital as well as in regional meetings held in Malaysia and Thailand.
